The Peary-MacMillan Arctic Museum  has established a blog to commemorate Admiral Peary's trip to the North Pole, which concluded April 6, 1909.  Every day over the next 15 months the Museum  will be posting entries from the journals of various members of the expedition, each entry written 100 years earlier to the day! The Roosevelt departed New York on July 6, 1908 for its historic voyage. The blog's first entry was July 1, 2008, giving background leading up to the departure date from New York City

To see these daily entries go to: http://www.bowdoin.edu/arctic-museum/northward-journal/

To read about the sources for the entries click on "Acknowledgements".

I strongly urge visitors to the site, who may want to follow the voyage, to set up a shortcut on their desk top. You don't have to open it every day. You can always look at back entries.

But, just imagine how exciting it's going to be, as you follow the progress of the exploration day by day.  And then, come next March and April you will live with the dog sled teams as they approach the Pole!
